What We Believe

  • There is one God, the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (the Trinity), and is without limits in time, space, power or knowledge.
    (Genesis 1:1; Psalms 90:2; Isaiah 40:18-28; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19; 2Peter 3:5-8; Revelation 1:8; 4:11)
  • Jesus Christ, the Son of God is the only way to a relationship with God. Through his voluntary death on the cross and subsequent resurrection, he paid the price for the sins of all humanity and provides forgiveness and eternal life to everyone who receives Him by faith.
    (John 3:16; 14:6; Romans 1:4; 5:8; 8:1; 1Corinthians 15:1-6)
  • The Holy Spirit, equal with the Father and Son, brings individuals to an awareness of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives in everyone who has placed faith in Christ, and guides into truth, convicts of sin, empowers for daily life, and unites believers in the church, the universal Body of Christ.
    (John 14:25; 16:8-14; 1Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 5:22-25; Ephesians 4:3-5, 30)
  • There is one true church, established by Jesus Christ and comprised of everyone who has placed faith in him. We believe that the church exists for the following purposes: sharing the good news of Christ, corporate worship, the building up of believers, spiritual instruction and encouragement, and being light to a dark and wounded world.
    (Matthew 5:13-16; 16:16-19; 28:18-20; John 13:35; 17:20-24; Acts 2:42-47; 1Corinthians 12:12-31; Ephesians 4:4-16)
  • The Bible is God's written communication to all humankind, composed by human authors under the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit. We uphold the Scriptures as the supreme source of truth, without error and authoritative for life and belief.
    (Psalms 119:160; Matthew 24:35; John 17:17; 2Timothy 3:16; 2Peter 1:3-4, 19-21)
  • There is an afterlife, in which each person will spend eternity either with God (heaven), or separate from him (hell), depending upon his or her relationship with Jesus Christ. Heaven and hell are real places of physical existence.
    (Isaiah 59:1-2; Matthew 25:46; John 3:16; Romans 6:23; 8:1; 1John 5:11-1; Revelation 20:15)
  • Human beings are God's supreme creation, made in his image to be like him in character. Although we have great potential, our willful attitude of disobedience and rejection of truth have separated us from God. We can only find fulfillment and lasting joy in the context of a relationship with him.
    (Genesis 1:26-31; 3:1-24; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 4:20-24; Colossians 1:21-22)
