Personality Test
Give it a try and post your results and any comments you might have. I'm an INTJ, the best (and most humble) of all personality types.

I found some of the questions hard to answer: I suspect I could vasillate quite a bit each time I take it.

re: Personality Test
"Feeling has a modest inner room, two doors down from the Most Imminent iNtuition. It doesn't get out much, but lends its influence on behalf of causes which are Good and Worthy and Humane. We may catch a glimpse of it in the unspoken attitude of good will, or the gracious smile or nod. Some question the existence of Feeling in this type, yet its unseen balance to Thinking is a cardinal dimension in the full measure of the INTJ's soul."

So does this sound like an accurate description for me? I especially like the "[feeling] doesn't get out much" part.

All of my numbers were higher than Annette's NT. Actually, if Annette's numbers are the more common, I may not want to share my numbers. Let's just say that T was high.
David, Friday, 5-26-06 3:37 PM
re: Personality Test
We were discussing the other night that we may not have a common distribution of personality types in our church. One of the articles on INTJ suggests that INTJ people make up approximately 1% of the population. Assuming that to be true, we would need 300 people in our church to account for the people who have already posted as being INTJ, and I suspect we have some more INTJs in our church.
David, Friday, 5-26-06 3:40 PM
re: Personality Test
That particular test calls me INTJ, with N being very strong and J moderately strong. T is weak and I is very weak (to the extent that it flips over depending on how I interpret one of the questions). Historically I've been mostly INTJ with a few periods of ENTJ lasting a few years each. Being able to actually become energized through extraverting myself (rather than simply drawing from the internal wells, which is what I usually do) seems to require me to be actively promoting a grand cause.
It is certainly true that this group has an unusual profile, particularly in that it contains a lot more I's and N's than would be expected for a group of its size. I don't find that clustering all that difficult to understand though---people tend to go where they feel most comfortable and stay where they're well treated. Increased mobility via technology (and transportation costs that are laughably low by historical standards) only serves to amplify this natural tendency.

So, this is kind of weird, but I took the test again, and came out INFP again... It must be true... but I'm really struggling with authenticity at this moment because I've been identifying myself as an INFJ for several years now... ;). If you enjoyed taking the test, you might enjoy this too...

Re: Personality Test
Huh.
Jason is essentially my (and Dan's, and the Davids', and Mark's and my Dad's) polar opposite.
And we haven't killed one-another yet!
Interesting...

(OK, before one of the other INTJs jumps in and says this for me, I'll ammend the "polar oposite" statement: our numbers are not high enough - either Jason's or the INTJs' - to be truly opposite. But all the same, there are no letters in common.)
Annette, Saturday, 8-5-06 9:07 PM
re: Personality Test
Jason is similar in personality to my stepdad, who's probably considerably more extreme in his numbers (he's pretty seriously extraverted, sensing, and feeling). Oddly though there never was any significant friction between us. I'm guessing that's because our respective personalities are pretty inert towards the other (we basically share no common non-familial interests so we don't interact much).
I think that true negative friction requires a bit more commonality that the opposite just doesn't have :->

oh, PS:
i was INFP incollege. according to this test its almost completely flipped. my theory is that i am one thing naturally, but circumstances have forced (encouraged me) to be another way. i figure it makes me flexible, and probably confusing.

re: Personality Test
One thing to consider with Christina's flipping of categories - all of her results except N were pretty low. Her I/T/J scores could all be considered X. My lowest result was I with something like 44.

Does anyone know what score range is really considered to be pretty much either way?

Ben,

Apparently having a kid has made you more of an extrovert (the more people you know, the more people can babysit), less of a feeling person, and more judgmental (who's the discipliner in the family?).

re: Personality Test
With all the talk, i decided to retake my test.

33 Introverted
38 iNtuitive
12 Thinking
33 Judging

I think my results are much more natural than the last time I took it. The Thinking vs Feeling part is quite of a teeter-totter. While I have very strong feelings, but I don't trust them because I can't justify them. I let my Thinker drive (makes final decisions) while my Feeler navigates (gives strong input, moral compass). The Feeler comes out strongly when it comes to justice or anything that I think "should be". My Thinker comes out when I'm looking for a solution or a reason. Like now. :-)

How's that, Lisa?

The last time I took this test I was a J and the E was not near as strong. It's really interesting how life chips away at you and changes you. I know that the Lord has changed me to be the most effective in the circumstances he places me in. Sometimes in the inbetween times the molding can be pretty painfull though.
I am most gratefull to all of you for helping me through one of those times.

Yes, Dan, INTJs ARE the best personality (as evidenced by our church membership;-)

By the way, I'm an INTJ as well (apparently I'm on the INTJ side today, though I alternate between INTJ and ISTJ). Here's the breakdown:

very expressed introvert
moderately expressed intuitive personality
moderately expressed thinking personality
very expressed judging personality

Personality tests are great, aren't they? Hey, I was a psych major, what can I say?

Just so you know: test results tend to change based on several variables, e.g.: recent events in your life--traumatic, happy, discouraging, etc. The mood you currently find yourself in can change your answers. Also, try taking the test thinking about yourself in different situations, such as work, friendships, or ministry. You will probably see the results change significantly.

re: Personality Test
Been doing some fascinating reading on MBTI and how many people experience their spiritual life as their "shadow," their least used functions. (in my case as an INTJ, extroverted sensing and introverted feeling). It plays out well for me... I am much more an F when discussing spiritual matters than any other time, and I perceive my spirituality more with my senses. Interesting, anyway.
