The Dangers of Kite Flying
Reading this article made a bell go off somewhere in the back of my head. Seems like I heard or read back near the beginning of the most recent Gulf War that either Iran or possibly Afghanistan's governments were so ridiculously evil and restrictive that they even banned the innocent childhood rite of kite flying.
Well, looks like in some cases kite flying isn't so innocent (see article link).
I also have an even older memory from gradeschool of reading a story about a child and his grandfather and their fighting kites. I thought they were Japanese, but I could be wrong. Somehow I think it glossed over the potential of accidentally cutting someone's throat.
Wonder if this is what those laws were trying to prevent?
