Buying water wasn't enough...
... now you can buy pre-packaged hermetically sealed ice. Except it isn't ice, it's "a product that is sold in its unfrozen state (liquid)" That's right: you have to freeze it yourself. In other words, you're buying a tray of water.

I liked one poster's comment on Gizmodo: "We have too much stuff."


(But perhaps the trully frightening thing is that part of me *can* see the point. Say I was vacationing in Mexico. Would I use ice I found in my hotel's freezer if I wasn't able to verify that it came from filtered water? Not likely.
Of course nothing is stopping me from freezing a bottle of water or filling up a clean ice tray with the same...)
