So, What's a Hogmanay?
It's been noted that some of us aren't too sure what a Hogmanay is. Apparently Zach showed up last year wondering where the hogs were.
The origin of Hogmany in *our* circle was a game of Balderdash some 7 or 10 years ago when yours truly happened to draw a card with the word on it. Not surprisingly, no-one guessed the right answer. But we've adopted it, and been holding nothing but Hogmanays ever since. The origin of the word in general is guessed at in the link below.
