Feedback requested: Has this site been down lately?
It's contract renewal time at Uplink Earth, our ISP, and I have about 2-3 days - the weekend at the latest - to decide whether to cut and run, or renew with these folks. As of a month or so ago I was definitely on the "cut and run" side: it seemed like we were experiencing unexplained downtime with alarming frequency. (And they won't answer my e-mails!) But I haven't heard any complaints lately, nor seen any problems myself. And frankly it takes a fair amount of time and energy to move ISPs, besides which Uplink has the advantage of being dirt cheap. So I'm hoping for some general feedback from anyone who visits the site once a week or more: has it been down? Has it been slow? Has it malfunctioned unexpectedly on you? Any other arguments pro or con? Anyone like to volunteer to find us Cold Fusion and MS Access Web Hosting at the price of $150/year or less?
Thanks,

Lately it's been fine for me. They must know our contract is expiring.

I haven't had a problem with it for a month or more now.

So, I was going to reply, "no problems here for a couple of months." But when I navigated away from the page for a moment, I couldn't get back on. All other sites were working fine.

Goes to show you (something, but I don't know what for sure).

Goes to show you it's worth changing. I actually noticed the site was down around 8 pm last night, so if Dan was having trouble around 3:30 or so, it was flakey for quite a while.
I have actually located another host (HosTek.com) that provides equivalent service for about $70/year - that's even cheaper than UplinkEarth.
Just be prepared for a little downtime: I don't think this is going to go all that smoothly...

Annette, thank you for setting up our website. I seriously appreciate the thought and effort you invest. I'm fine with a little transition time, if that's what it takes.
